The Book Trader: what do users think?

S P: Love to spend time in this place. I always grab 3-4 books every time I visited here.

Princess Faith Harrell, MMC: LOTS of books on just about everything! Loved it.

Jason Liu: cat

Serena: A very well stocked used-book store that appears to allow trades. The aisles are very narrow and it may be difficult to navigate if you're using mobility aides or for some plus-sized folk. The cat is super friendly, as well as the staff

Daniel Lee: Be sure to pay your respects to Mr. Pickles while you're there

Phillip Cifone: This place is amazing, although it can also be overwhelming. Stacks and stacks of books as far as the eye can see. Great deals on used and like-new books.

Mark: Love the store, it is full of wonders.

Matthew Poehler: The book trader is a magical place! Absolutely what I think of when younread about the half-mystical shop with dimensional doorways around each corner. The Book Trade even comes complete with a large orange cat-in-charge named Mr Pickles, so full points for management and atmosphere.

Christina Kitchen: I personally love this book store, with some warnings. First, the good:*There are SO MANY BOOKS. You'll feel like you're walking into book Narnia. Shelves are packed, boxes are strewn around and sometimes there's just a stack or two of volumes up to your knees. If you like searching for treasures in a store, this is your happy place.*You can trade in your used books for store credit.*Employees are friendly, but don't hover.*Prices are reasonable - not rock bottom, which I see some reviewers complaining about. Newer books and rarer books both carry a higher price tag - but this *is* a bookstore, not a thrift shop, after all. Now, the main reason I took a star off:*Maneuverability in this store SUCKS, and that's for me as a pretty able bodied person. If you are disabled, you may not be able to browse easily, or at all. Stairs required to get to the second floor, which is where the fiction is among other things. This store has been in this spot for a long time, and I don't anticipate that issue is going to be solved anytime soon.Less seriously, there is a store cat, but I didn't see it last time I was there, and my heart was broken.

Jean Merritt: Fabulous collection of books of all kinds. Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonably priced. Something for everyone. Amazing place.

Lisa Kretschman: Amazing place for used books, magazines, records, cds, dvds, etc! They even have a bookstore cat. My only complaint is that the books aren’t really organized by anything other than genre, so if you’re looking for a specific title or author, prepare to spend some time there to skim every title on the shelf. I drive to Philly once or twice a year just to go here, carve out an hour or two of your day and you won’t be disappointed!

Deborah Kogan: Enormous selection, friendly staff.

Bookhaven: what do users think?

Natasha: Small and cute bookstore! Fairly well organized, though some of the labels were hard to read/peeling. A very big variety of genres, including well known + lesser known series/authors! Might be a bit tough to get to upper floor if you have trouble with stairs. Two lovely cats stood guard within the store, well behaved, peaceful, and very cute. Photo is of the poetry section.

Reuben Segal: Need a book? They have it. Didn't know you needed that book. They have it. In a time of screens, I am always amazed to see this bookstore filled with people, restoring my faith in humanity. Bring tote bags.

It 8n’t me: Absolutely lovely! I went with my friends and there were so many cool topics and even cats! The person was also very nice. I’m definitely coming back! Such a cool bookstore

Laura Lee Muller: and a mostly white calico

Lorenzo Bryce: Great variety of books + cats!

Eleni Leventopoulos: Great used bookstore. Well-organized and decently prices. The owners and super nice and can help you find anything. The cats are a great bonus

Audrey Sonta: they have the best selection of books, and prices are great. Customer service is wonderful, and so are the cats.

Robert Romano: Best bookshop in philly its got every book your looking for despite being used and a beautiful cat

Jordan B: Both extensive and well-curated

michael woods: Great selection of books. Friendly atmosphere and easy to find what you need. Worth a visit.

Anita Andreasen: Love this place. I have discovered so many great books and authors here over the years.
